How this stage was measured
The course comes from ASO's own published geometry, the same data that draws the stage map on letour.fr, not from a route planner joining towns. VeloWorkout measures 184.9 km against the 154.6 km the roadbook prints, and 3,207 m of climbing against a published 3,300 m. Elevation is sampled from the Terrarium elevation model and smoothed, so digital-model noise is not counted as climbing.
Waypoint positions agree with ASO's separately published climb positions to a median of 93 m (worst 143 m). Official geometry is 189.9 km against a 154.6 km stage, which the neutralised start does not explain. Stage 9 was cut from 185.5 km to 154.6 km on the morning of the race for a red heatwave warning in Correze; start and finish were unchanged. ASO's published geometry is still the 185.5 km original, so kilometre marks could not be walked along it. These waypoints come from the roadbook of the route actually raced, each geocoded and then confirmed to lie on official route geometry, which also confirms the shortened route reused the same roads. The start coordinate is Beynat (km 13.6), not Malemort: the roadbook's Malemort row would not verify against the geometry. Distance 154.6 km is agreed by ASO, PCS and Wikipedia. Climbing total disputed: ASO 3300 m against PCS 2792 m. This build measures 184.9 km against a published 154.6 km (19.6%).
